The Unbelievably Strong Antioxidant You’ve Never Heard of that is also an Edible Sunblock!

Cartenoids are the eye and skin boosters!

If this post seems like an infomercial – it is.  I have become wildly obsessed with Astaxanthin – a supplement I had never heard about until I discovered that it is ‘sunblock you can eat.’  As someone who has meticulously dissected all the chemicals in the average sunblock and concluded that the only non-toxic ingredient (zinc) is one that makes me look like a real vampire, I have long worn picture hats and avoided the sun from 12-2.  All that has changed now that I have discovered Astaxanthin. I have been taking it for months now and am in the sun a fair bit – but no burning! And my nails have become long and strong – very unusual for me!

Tan but no burn…

Homemade Face Masks that Will Make Your Skin Glow Like a Goddess!

Summer is here and I am back in America!  As much as I love the energy and spirit of my country, I worry about the loose regulations around the production and use of chemicals. After ten days in NYC and exposure to non-filtered shower and bath water I could see the toll on my skin – it looked dry and lifeless.  But quick re-vitalization is at hand with proper filtration systems and home-made hydrating face masks.

In a day and age where we can buy everything pre-packaged and where we rush from one activity and web page to another, it pays to slow down and consider that everything we need arrives ready to use in its natural unadulterated state. And these gifts of nature can be found in a grocery store and, hopefully, your kitchen.

The following are eight of the easiest and most refreshing facials masks that you can make at home. They will nourish and moisturize tired summer skin. Remember, sun, sunblock, salt water and chlorinated water can take a big toll on skin so be sure to re-ignite it.

Magnesium – Make Sure it is in Your Diet or Else you will –

One of the magical vitamins I have been taking for years is magnesium glycinate.  My motivation was anti-aging but, the below article by Dr. Mercola will explain why magnesium is important for SO MANY other reasons.

Dr. Mercola

You don’t hear much about magnesium, yet an estimated 80 percent of Americans are deficient in this important mineral and the health consequences of deficiency are significant. One reason could be because magnesium, like vitamin D, serves so many functions it’s hard to corral.

Few nutrients possess the remarkable and diverse benefits of magnesium. It is the fourth most abundant mineral in cells after calcium, phosphorus and potassium. Magnesium is found in our bones, muscles, blood, and other tissues. It is needed by the body for energy production, fat and protein synthesis, muscle relaxation, nervous system function and calcium metabolism.

According to US Department of Agriculture data, two out of every three Americans don’t meet average daily intake requirements for magnesium, which are 300 milligrams (mg) to 420 mg daily for adults. In addition, many people have a magnesium deficiency due to stress, genetics or a medication, such as a diuretic (usually taken to control blood pressure). As a consequence, these people face an increased risk for health problems. Maintaining adequate levels of magnesium can help reduce muscle cramps, stabilize blood sugar, lower the risk for heart disease, ease migraine headaches, strengthen bones and slow the aging process. Use Brazil Nuts to Get a Brazilian Butt, Goddess-like Skin (and a better Sperm Count!)

All right – who is tired of hearing about the perfection of the Brazilian butt?  Superbly showcased on a little Y shaped stage (la thong) the Brazilian bottom is an invitation to both men and women to nestle in warm, pillowly plumpness.  But such buttocks are not always achieved by nature alone.  They are oft aided by a professional sculptor (better known as a plastic surgeon).  So what the Hell do Brazil nuts have to do with Brazilian butts you demand impatiently?

In a nutshell (heheheh), Brazil nuts contains a number of minerals which build connective tissue and muscle (essential to firm butts).  They also have a huge amount of selenium which does wonders for the skin. Continue reading

Just a Spoonful of Essential Fatty Acid Oil a Day will Keep the Wrinkles Away! So get Oily for a Younger You!

I have been drinking teaspoons of oil before bed for years.  Throughout my pregnancy, I kept 6 bottles of oil and a spoon next to my bed.  Every night, I religiously took a spoonful of each in order to help the brain development of my baby.  It is a common misconception that oil makes us fat.  And I cannot tell you how aggravating it is that so many people think in terms of calories and not overall health.  We Westerners would do well to adopt a more Eastern approach to our bodies by looking at the whole wellness of the body instead of attacking one area.   To deny yourself critical oils because of a diet might make you thinner but your face and skin will likely age more rapidly because (for instance) the integrity of the cell membrane has been compromised.  Yes, avocados may be high in calories but you should be exercising and the oil in avocados is one of the best for your body, your immunity, your skin and keeping you young.  At 105 pounds while maintaining a diet that includes an avocado a day I can tell you that drinking the right oils will not harm you.

Essential fatty acids are, as they sound, fats that are necessary within the human body. Though you’ve probably often heard the word “fats” and associated it with bad health, there are some essential fatty acids that are necessary for your survival. Without them, you could cause serious damage to different systems within the body.  Essential, unoxidized oils speed up fat metabolism. This is a widely misunderstood aspect of human metabolism. Essential oils provide a steady-state source of energy, and prevent sugar-insulin-adrenaline roller coasters. Other clinical benefits of essential oils include their value in the prevention and management of the following disorders: Continue reading

People Who Drink Green Tea Look Younger than those Who Don’t

I had to convince myself to get into green tea because I was so obsessed with coffee. Now, while coffee does have some benefits (antioxidants, protects against some mental disorders and boosts well-being and functionality) – it is extremely acidifying to the body and thereby, accelerates aging and creates a ripe environment for the proliferation of sickness. I was not won over by the taste of the green tea that comes in the traditional little tea satchels.

The game-changer for me was discovering Matcha green tea. It comes in powder format and is an unusually brilliant extra-terrestrial green color. It has true ass-kicking wake-up power and the taste is stronger than tea bags. When mixed with a bit of milk (or almond or coconut milk) and whisked to a fine froth is becomes an extraordinary concoction that needs to be tried to be understood. Continue reading

If you are really, really serious about fighting aging then take out your grocery list and add: FLAX SEEDS.  Flax seeds are a super food for anti-aging like none other!!

Three Important Points to Remember:
