Ginger – a Miracle Food for Anti-aging and Immunity+ My Special Anti-Aging Daily Drink!

Ginger is an oft overlooked miracle worker.  It is a normal part of the Asian diet but rarely incorporated into the Standard American Diet (SAD!).   Not only will ginger boost your immunity, but it is a massive anti-inflammatory. Why is this a plus for anti-aging?

The immune system responds to injury or disease with inflammation. This is a normal, reparative reaction that is necessary for healing. But not all inflammation is good.

“When inflammation persists beyond its intended borders and purpose, however, the immune system mistakenly attacks normal cells, and the process that ordinarily heals becomes destructive. It is now widely accepted that chronic inflammation is the root cause of many serious illnesses, especially those related to aging,” says Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. Food Order and Combining – Why it is Important for Beauty, Health, Energy and Weight Loss

Choosing what to eat and when to eat and what to eat it with are questions that everyone faces daily. Most of us are calorie counters following mainstream diet trends that we pick up from beauty magazines, friends or hear that our favorite celebs are following. But few of us have been educated on the importance of food sequence or food combining. For me, it was a revelation that took pounds off, increased my energy and made my skin glow! I credit the books of Natalia Rose (guru and goddess) and the incredible Kimberly Snyder. Chapeau ladies!  I wish someone had taught me these practices as a child. My daughter is reaping the benefits!

The trick is to maximize the benefits of the foods that we consume in order to gain crucial vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Proper sequential food ordering and pairing enable us to avoid diets and achieve glowing skin because this practice optimizes digestion. A glorious side effect will be greater energy and deeper sleep. The more effectively you can master this practice the less you will have to work at exercising to lose weight. Optimal digestion leads to natural skin toning!

Homemade Face Masks that Will Make Your Skin Glow Like a Goddess!

Summer is here and I am back in America!  As much as I love the energy and spirit of my country, I worry about the loose regulations around the production and use of chemicals. After ten days in NYC and exposure to non-filtered shower and bath water I could see the toll on my skin – it looked dry and lifeless.  But quick re-vitalization is at hand with proper filtration systems and home-made hydrating face masks.

In a day and age where we can buy everything pre-packaged and where we rush from one activity and web page to another, it pays to slow down and consider that everything we need arrives ready to use in its natural unadulterated state. And these gifts of nature can be found in a grocery store and, hopefully, your kitchen.

The following are eight of the easiest and most refreshing facials masks that you can make at home. They will nourish and moisturize tired summer skin. Remember, sun, sunblock, salt water and chlorinated water can take a big toll on skin so be sure to re-ignite it.

Crème Budwig – Anti-Aging and Immunity-Boosting Nectar of the Gods

I recently saw a friend in London who is minefield of information on all things holistic and healthy.  I make sure I always have pen and paper ready when I see her because she gives me so many ideas to google…

She introduced me to the famed Dr. Catherine Kousmine (1904-1992),  – a Russian (her family was well-to-do and fled the country during the Russian revolution) scientist based in Switzerland who believed in nutrition-based medicine.  Dr. Catherine Kousmine devoted her life to medical research in Switzerland, with special interest in the effects of food on overall health, and cancer and disease prevention. Get Addicted to Needles and Roll Your Way to Firmer Skin (knees and face especially!)

I awaken the S&M in me every Tuesday night.   Unfortunately, I play both Master and Servant and the act usually takes place while I am fully clothed.  My instrument of torture?  The micro-needle roller (the generic hence, cheaper, version of the famed dermaroller).

Many of my girlfriends hesitate to buy one for themselves and insist on allowing only their facialist to apply it in a session.  The reason?  The facialist earnestly warns them that only a professional should roll as you may risk injury.  This is utter nonsense!  No one knows you better than you eh?  Personally, I know my pain threshold is high and so I push my micro-needle roller deep into my skin with rhythmic thrusts and strokes (that’s right ladies, you must GET INTO it for results)… Continue reading

Egg Masks Fight Sagging Skin and Tighten Pores

Loyal readers may recall my article on how eating eggs is important to fighting loose skin (Eggs Can Prevent Your Skin from Sagging).  Eggs are rich in iron and biotin, which help keep your skin and hair healthy and full.  But the miracles eggs can foment does not end with eating them.  Miracles continue if you apply them to your face on a regular basis as a mask.  They will tighten skin and close pores to create a smooth surface.

I often have to restrain myself from bringing up the powers of the egg mask at cocktail parties where I find myself staring into the deep cavernous pores of committed smokers or sun worshipers. If you’re going to bring destruction to your skin at least try to rectify matters by wacking some eggs whites on your face! Continue reading

Fight Aging and Cancer with an Alkaline PH – 4 Steps to Getting There

An alkaline diet may lower your risk of exhaustion, premature aging, sickness, allergies, muscle aches, joint pain and osteoporosis. A study published in 1994 in the New England Journal of Medicine found that women who neutralized their body’s acidic state with an alkalizing agent absorbed calcium and phosphorous better and increased the rate their bodies formed new bone matter.
