The Magical Elixir Socrates Drank for Health – Great for Weight Loss, Detox, Alkalizing and Anti-Aging

Naturally, I am not referring to his ingestion of hemlock.  No, this article is about apple cider vinegar or APC forthwith.   APC was one of the cleansing bullets I riddled myself with throughout my hedonistic histoire in order to recover from a particularly late night – usually one of those evenings not interrupted by anything as humdrum as sleep.

The mere act of drinking APC was a penitent gesture.  For me, it was (is) hemlock – minus death.  But don’t let me discourage you before you read the 11 reasons you should drink it! Ironically, APC revitalizes, energizes and has all kinds of wonderful effects on the body. (Although I noted that a few ‘medical’ sites had nothing flattering to say about the humble APC.  They hinted its powers are suspect.)  But who can doubt Socrates?  And, don’t doctors and pharmaceuticals WANT you sick if only to stay in business?

A recent trip to the U.S. brought me once again into contact with American TV commercials (when I realized the mute button on the remote didn’t work).  I was dumbstruck by the sheer, endless number of ads dealing with sickness and medical breakthrough ‘cures’ and solutions.  The laughably lengthy list of possible side-effects follows in a semi-whisper. Anti-Aging Chef Francois Bronn’s Latest Recipe: Warm Roasted Pumpkin Salad

Everything about this salad is magical!  The key is to serve the pumpkin straight from the oven, with warming aromas of spice and citrus perfuming the air.   It’s the perfect way to start an autumn evening.
The nutrients in pumpkin are first class. Extremely high in fiber and low in calories, pumpkin packs an abundance of disease-fighting nutrients, including potassium, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and vitamins C and E.   Pumpkins are a super foods because of their synergistic combination of carotenoids. Pumpkin contains one of the richest supplies of bio-available carotenoids known to man. Indeed, a half-cup serving of pumpkin gives you more than two times the recommended daily dietary intake of alpha-carotene and 100% of the recommended daily dietary goal of beta-carotene.  Be sure to save the seeds by the way.  Pumpkin seeds are nutritional powerhouses wrapped up in a very small package, with a wide variety of nutrients ranging from magnesium and manganese to copper, protein and zinc.  They contain a wide array of beneficial plant compounds known as phytosterols and free-radical scavenging antioxidants. Ajvar – A Serbian Delicacy that Will Bring Balkan Beauty and Collagen to Your Skin

My mother always told me to never discuss my Serbian roots.  “People will think you are dangerous,” she would whisper with narowed eyes.   While it is true that the Serbs are a feisty race one cannot deny their beauty, survival skills, their passion for life and their weapon-sharp minds!

My glamorous Serbian grandmother who never went to bed without a perfectly made up face (if she died in her sleep she wanted to be found looking beautiful) always had a stash of homemade ajvar on hand.  She swore that the vitamin C in the red peppers was responsible for her impeccable complexion and wrinkle-free skin.

Ajvar is a type of relish, made principally from red bell peppers, with garlic. It may also contain eggplant and chili. Ajvar originates in the Serbian cuisine, and was therefore long known as “Serbian salad” or “Serbian vegetable caviar”. It became a popular salad (side dish) throughout Yugoslavia after World War II and is nowadays popular in the Balkans. Original homemade ajvar is made of roasted peppers, while some industrial producers use cooked peppers, which leads to a lower quality. Depending on the capsaicin content in bell peppers and the amount of added chili peppers, it can be sweet (traditional), piquant (the most common), or very hot. Continue reading

Preserve Your Skin’s Elastin and Collagen with Grape Seed Extract

In order to protect cells from the degeneration and decay which lead to aging and disease it is essential that we consume a variety of foods and supplements which have strong antioxidant properties.  Thanks to its high levels of proanthocyanidins, a major weapon in my anti-aging arsenal is Grape Seed Extract.

Expensive supplements, derived from pine bark, contain 85% proanthocyanidins while grape seed extract contains 95% proanthocyanidins.   But what is proanthocyanidin you ask?

In the future, health care providers may hand out proanthocyanidin pills as readily as they recommend aspirin today. A steady stream of animal and in vitro studies supplemented by epidemiological evidence and a smattering of preliminary human studies reveal numerous health benefits associated with these compounds. Chief among the benefits is antioxidant protection against heart disease and cancer. Continue reading

A Mouth-Watering Anti-Aging and Anti-Inflammatory Meal You Can Make in 15 Minutes

I found this online and had to make it!  Delicious and your skin will glow like a pregnant woman after you eat it!

Raw Sweet Potato Salad with Curry Almond Sauce is a unique and refreshing salad that is perfect for those hot summer days when you can’t bear to turn on the oven or stove. I was skeptical the first time I tried a raw sweet potato salad, but I was pleasantly surprised. Raw sweet potatoes have a great crunch and fresh flavor that is far from starchy.

Sweet potatoes are packed with beta-carotene which our body converts to vitamin A. Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that boosts the immune system, keeps the skin healthy and maintains eye health. Sweet potatoes are high in antioxidants and lower the potential health risks associated with heavy metals and free radicals as they pass through our digestive tract. They also have anti-inflammatory properties and are great for people with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. Continue reading

9 Reasons Why Sex Gives You the Glow of Youth SO Pump Up Your Libido with these 20 Foods!

9 Reasons to Indulge in as Much Sex as Possible (with a supportive and loving person!)

  1.      It gets your heart pumpin’ blood flowin’ and nitric oxide movin’

When you are doing anything that feels good, like healthy exercise or having an orgasm, your Nitric Oxide levels rise and blood circulation is increased. More than that, Nitric Oxide is the main neurotransmitter – the one that regulates all the other neurotransmitters. And because it’s a gas, it goes through the body instantly. So high Nitric Oxide levels, let’s say from clitoral stimulation, will instantly change the neurotransmitter levels of the brain and balance them out. As your biochemistry changes, inflammation decreases, and chances of heart disease lessens, and the adrenals improve. Continue reading

Ah, the innocent, cheery sweet potato – a food very few of us give any thought to except during Thanksgiving or Christmas.
