Eggs Can Prevent Your Skin from Sagging

Eggs contain a number of powerful skin-friendly nutrients:

  1. Selenium – the wonder mineral of anti-aging is very present in eggs and promotes tighter skin
  2. Choline – protects the fat structures of cell membranes which make skin more flexible.  Without this flexibility skin can crack and wrinkle.  In addition, choline helps in the overall functioning of cells assisting in such functions as transporting nutrients in the body and maintaining proper levels of vitamin B which produces energy in the skin which means elastin and collagen production are constant.   While we do produce some choline naturally we need more – two a day will give us 50% of what we need.
  3.  Within the yolk (yellow part) of the egg are high levels of lutein – an antioxidant which works to fight free radicals. It also makes skin more elastic.
  4. Yolks also contain lecithin – considered critical to the construction of cells, lecithin prevents the hardening of cell membranes. Healthy cells lead to a healthier body, and the membranes are a critical part in monitoring a cell’s intake and output.

Don’t forget to use eggs topically as well as ingesting them!  Eggs make wonderful facial masks.  Just whisk one about with a fork and apply to your face.
